While the risk within BC is still considered low, public concern about COVID-19 (Coronavirus) is growing. Vernon Denture Clinic takes this threat seriously.
As a practice that cater largely to seniors, Vernon Denture Clinic is aware of the risk that COVID-19 presents to them as well as anyone who visits our clinic.
We want to ensure that we are doing what we can to provide a clinic environment that is as risk-free as possible for patients, staff, and the public.
COVID-19 risk prevention strategies
Staff health
We are asking all clinic staff to self-monitor for symptoms of illness.
If a staff member develops any flu-like symptoms, they will be asked to stay home and not return to work until free of symptoms for at least 24 hours.
If it is subsequently determined that they have been in close contact with a probable or confirmed case of COVID-19 or someone who has traveled internationally, they will be asked to self-isolate for the recommended 14 days and report to the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC).
Patient health
Triaging patients prior to appointments
Reception staff will be confirming the health status and any recent international travel for all patients when booking and confirming appointments.
If a patient has a fever, cough, difficulty breathing, or has traveled or been in contact with someone who has traveled outside of Canada in the last 14 days, their appointment will be rescheduled.
We understand that you may be upset or frustrated if your appointment needs to be cancelled or rescheduled. However, in light of the global concern about COVID-19, we trust that you understand our need to take preventative precautions and protect patient, staff, and public health.
Triaging visitors to the clinic
When patients, visitors, and the general public arrive at our office, they will be presented with printed information to assist them with monitoring their risk and taking proper precautions to keep themselves and others healthy.
- All visitors are greeted with signage that outlines handwashing instructions and recommended protocols for coughing and sneezing.
- Handwashing stations are available for all visitors.
- Alcohol-based hand sanitizer is provided in all areas frequented by patients and the public.
- If visitors are 60+ and have an underlying health condition like cardiovascular disease, respiratory condition, or diabetes, they will be asked to consider postponing non-urgent appointments.
- If visitors are sick upon arrival, they will be asked to clean their hands, put on a mask, and report to our reception desk.
While these measures will not completely eliminate the risk of COVID-19 and other viruses, it has the potential of reducing our risk substantially.
As a clinic that provides service to a high proportion of seniors, please help us protect the most vulnerable among us.
